Hi, I'm Scott. I created SaltWrap to bring together the most practical ideas in sports nutrition therapy, injury recovery and functional fitness — with the goal of keeping you (and myself) strong, mobile, and built to last.
I've worked as an A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainer, Lifestyle/Weight Management Consultant (A.C.E.), and nutritional supplement formulator.
But more importantly — I've spent most of my life battling injuries, joint pain, and just being plain beat up. So I know what it's like to struggle to stay healthy... let alone make substantial progress toward strength, athleticism or body composition goals.
If that sounds like you, hear this:
with the right strategy and mindset.
Plus a lot of discipline and patience.
You can work through these physical obstacles and build a body that you're proud of.
And that stands the test of time.
SaltWrap.com is here to guide you through injuries, training plateaus, nutritional deficiencies (and whatever else is thrown at you) so you can get the most out of your body and mind.
Sports Nutrition Experience
In addition to working directly with health clients, I've spent the last 10+ years researching and developing nutrition products for some of the biggest health retailers in the world.
I'm a member of the Medical Fitness Association, and work to stay up to date on the latest advances in therapeutic sports nutrition.
Product development is a craft I'm passionate about, and take seriously.
It's funny though. Everywhere I look, supplement marketers (opportunists) are popping out of the woodwork.
They wear their inexperience like a badge of honor.
And their battle cry is:
"I'm not one of these corrupt, industry insiders... I created this because I discovered something no one else had figured out yet!"
Then they launch under-dosed, unsubstantiated, and sometimes dangerous products to their unsuspecting victims (customers). All backed up by shiny packaging and "sponsored athletes."
I can't think of any other industry where having no clue what you're doing is bragged about so heavily.
But hey, there are always going to be opportunists.
For me, it's not about jumping on the bandwagon of the latest health craze or disrupting the supplement industry. It's about developing research-backed, novel solutions to problems that plague our clients. My sports nutrition experience includes:
- Research and interpretation of scientific journal articles, references and abstracts
- Sourcing and vetting of raw material (ingredient) suppliers
- Formulating safe, science-backed nutrient blends (including review of potential herb/food interactions) using Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) ingredients
- Working with independent testing laboratories for product accuracy, purity and safety
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) system management
- Manufacturer auditing
- Adverse Event (AE) and Product Recall procedure management
Before starting SaltWrap, I spent several years managing retail brick-and-mortar nutrition businesses.
No other professional experience has taught me more.
I learned about the nuances of coaching and behavior change. About empathy. Adapting solutions to individual client needs.
Most of all, working face-to-face with people showed me the human side of this business. That what we do directly impacts our clients' quality of life. And that we have an obligation to help, not hurt.
Bottom line: if I recommend a product, exercise or technique — I've thoroughly vetted it for safety and efficacy. And in virtually every case I use it myself.
