Collagen Synthesis™ 2.0: What’s New With the Original Joint-Building Collagen
by Scott Hogan, ACE-CPT, COES
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," they say.
But we say, "if it's good, make it even better." That's why we've completely revamped our bestselling joint-building collagen powder, Collagen Synthesis™.
This was inspired by user feedback, ongoing conversations with strength coaches and professional athletes we work with, and new research that revealed even better ways to improve collagen absorption and utilization by the body. This ultimately leads to more joint building and less joint breakdown.
Speaking of breakdown, here's the full breakdown of what’s new with Collagen Synthesis 2.0:
-
More servings: We listened to your feedback. And we updated the formula from 24 to 30 servings. This provides a full one-month supply in each bottle, which makes it perfect for daily use.
-
Better mixability: The new version has better flow and mixability, even when mixed with water. We still recommend mixing it in room temperature water, as any collagen tends to clump up when mixed with ice-cold liquid. Alternatively, mix it in a blender or shaker bottle for perfect mixability.
-
We added Hyaluronic Acid (80 mg): Recent studies show that supplementing with hyaluronic acid works synergistically with collagen to create a moisture-rich environment around your joints. This increases joint lubrication, nutrient uptake into connective tissue structures, and overall collagen strength and flexibility. And it means that the new tissues you form around your tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and fascia have greater elastic capabilities, which may reduce the risk of snapping or tearing.
-
We also added Choline-Stablized Orthosilicic Acid (ch-OSA) (10 mg): It’s a mouthful, but ch-OSA is a highly absorbable form of the common yet essential mineral, silica. When taken with collagen peptides, ch-OSA appears to stimulate collagen production and repair more effectively than either supplement does on its own.
-
No tryptophan or olive leaf extract: Version one of collagen synthesis contained both L-tryptophan and oleuropein from olive leaf extract. While the research on tryptophan and olive leaf extract is sound, the actual impact on your joint health is likely minimal. (This information comes from new research and direct conversations I’ve had with collagen researchers.) Tryptophan helps complete the amino acid profile, but it's not essential in this specific peptide blend. Olive leaf extract is a proven joint aid, but is problematic from a manufacturing standpoint and creates clumping in powder solutions. (I recommend taking olive leaf extract in capsule form for extra joint inflammation support. Our joint recovery multivitamin, Joint Clinic™, contains olive leaf extract.)
Cost per serving: Despite using patented (i.e., effective but expensive) ingredients, we are committed to providing fair and affordable solutions to our customers. We were able to improve the formula, increase the total number of servings, and still keep the cost per serving low. Our formula pricing is still competitive, even next to lower-quality generic collagen blends.
I’m proud that even though we experienced raw ingredient price increases of more than 20%, the retail price you’ll pay only increased by around 10% per serving.
We took a hit. But we decided to keep our price point low because Collagen Synthesis is such an important daily-use supplement.
When combined with intelligent resistance training and mobility work, Collagen Synthesis can help you stay healthy, agile, and pain-free. That’s why it’s the go-to collagen for elite professional athletes and many members of the armed forces.
