6 Protein Clinic™ Recipes for Supercharged Recovery
By Joe Zagami
There’s a lot to love about the new and improved Protein Clinic™. From its upgraded recovery optimization formula to its natural prebiotic fiber blend for better digestion and flavor.
And that last part – flavor – is especially important. Because let’s face it: at some point, most athletes have had to choke down a protein shake that they found downright gross. (We won’t name names.)
Now, some companies (again, we won’t name names) fix this by flooding their product with artificial sweeteners and other creepy additives to make the taste borderline addictive. This solves one problem while creating another.
We’re not fans of either approach.
That’s why we were meticulous – obsessive, some might say – about getting the flavors of Protein Clinic™ just right.
We wanted something that was completely natural and delicious. But without being sickeningly sweet. (Not everybody wants dessert right after a hard workout.)
Call us biased, but we think we did a pretty good job.
Protein Clinic™ is great mixed in plain old water. But we know all too well that when it comes to being consistent, things can get a bit… well, boring.
No worries.
We’ve got six supercharged recovery recipes you can try for your next serving of Protein Clinic™.
The Protein Clinic™ Mocha
We're starting with my favorite. It’s hard to beat the flavor combo of chocolate and coffee, especially first thing in the morning. Why try to swim against the current? Plus, it’s hard to beat the simplicity of the preparation process.
Ingredients
- 1 serving Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein Clinic™
- 1 serving of your favorite coffee (the actual amount is up to you)
Directions
Simply add a serving of Protein Clinic™ Creamy Chocolate Fudge to your favorite coffee in a large mug or tumbler and stir.
If you’d like to sip it hot, we recommend NOT using a shaker cup or even a blender. Of course, you could always blend this up with some ice for an elevated frappe experience.
It doesn’t get much easier – or tastier – than that.
The Protein Clinic™ Vanilla Latte
Never fear, vanilla enthusiasts: we’ve got a delicious and simple Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™ recipe for you as well.
Like the mocha recipe above, this is an easy – yet extremely satisfying – way to support optimal muscle recovery in the morning.
Ingredients
- 1 serving Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™
- 1 serving of your favorite coffee (again, serving size is up to you)
Directions
Just add a serving of Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™ to your favorite coffee in a large mug or tumbler and stir.
Once again, we don’t recommend using a blender or shaker cup if you want to drink it hot. But who says you can’t go iced? Add a little squeeze of caramel sauce and you’ll have a real flavor party going on.
The Protein Clinic™ Go Bananas
Consistency is king. You can’t flex fat. Abs are made in the kitchen. We’ve heard all the sayings. Most of them are true. But every now and then, you deserve a treat. For sanity’s sake.
The Go Bananas might be our favorite mostly healthy cheat treat. It’s not an everyday occurrence. (Honest.) But that’s part of what makes it so good.
Ingredients
- 1 serving Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein Clinic™
- 1 large banana, frozen
- 1 tbsp. organic peanut butter (or any nut butter of your choice)
- 16 oz. water or unsweetened almond milk (we recommend 8 ounces of each)
Directions
Add one large frozen banana to a blender. This is your ice. (If using a room-temperature banana, add ice cubes.) Add a serving of Protein Clinic™ and 8 ounces (you can use more, just be mindful of the fill line) of water or unsweetened almond milk.
Next, add a tablespoon of peanut butter.
Blend until it reaches your desired consistency. You may need to add more liquid and blend for a few more seconds. The result is an explosion of peanut butter, chocolate, and banana flavors that will leave your sweet tooth satisfied.
Pro tip: try this with Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™ and some cinnamon for a slightly toned-down but equally awesome flavor experience.
The Protein Clinic™ Berries and Cream
“Berries and what else?!” If you get that reference, this recipe is for you. And if not? You may still be a candidate for this delicious and recovery-optimized twist on a classic berry smoothie.
Don’t worry – this recipe keeps the work (and mess) to a minimum.
Ingredients
- 1 serving Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™
- 1 cup of Greek yogurt (any flavor you like – use less for a thinner smoothie)
- 1 cup frozen organic mixed berries
- 16 oz. water or unsweetened almond milk (or 8 ounces of each)
Directions
Add the frozen berries, Greek yogurt, and Protein Clinic™ to the blender. Pour the water or unsweetened almond milk over the ingredients and blend to your desired consistency. Serve and enjoy.
The Protein Clinic™ Green(s) Monster
When it comes to make-your-mother-proud nutrition, it’s hard to beat the Green(s) Monster. No matter your greens of choice, it’ll be packed with the critical fuel that helps power optimal recovery and performance.
Ingredients
- 1 serving Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™
- 1 frozen banana (substitute 1 cup of frozen mixed berries)
- 2 cups of fresh leafy greens
- 16 oz. water (or use 8 oz of water and 8 oz unsweetened almond milk for a thicker smoothie)
Directions
Add greens, Protein Clinic™, and liquid to the blender. Blend thoroughly. Next, add frozen fruit and any “boosters” (hemp seeds, cinnamon, cacao, etc.) and blend to your desired consistency. Serve and enjoy!
Pro tip: use a combination of frozen and fresh fruits for maximum flavor – something many traditional greens smoothies are sorely lacking in.
The Protein Clinic™ Cookies n' Cream
There are two ways to go about this. The first way is quick, easy, tasty, and clean.
The other way is nothing short of a celebration in a glass.
Do we have your attention? Good. The first way to make the Cookies n’ Cream is to prepare Protein Clinic™ however you normally would – but instead of using two scoops of a single flavor, you make it with a scoop of Vanilla Cream and a scoop of Creamy Chocolate Fudge.
Simple but tasty.
Now for the cheat meal showstopper…
Ingredients
- 1/2 serving (1 scoop) of Vanilla Cream Protein Clinic™
- 1/2 serving (1 scoop) of Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein Clinic™
- 1 serving of “sandwich cream cookies” (you know which ones)
- 1 scoop of ice cream (any flavor will do – this is your moment!)
- 8 oz. unsweetened almond milk
- 8 oz. water
Directions
Add ice cream, Protein Clinic™, and liquids to the blender. Blend thoroughly. Next, add the cookies. Blend to your desired consistency. Take a deep breath, dive in, and don't look back.
Editor's Note
Think the Cookies n’ Cream is unhealthy and couldn’t possibly help your hard-working muscles recover?
We get it. Sort of.
But consider that one scoop of a typical plain vanilla ice cream is about 140 calories. A serving of the cookies – just three – is 160 calories. That’s 300. Add a scoop of each flavor of Protein Clinic™ and that’s 505. A typical cup of unsweetened almond milk adds 40.
That’s 545 calories. Now, that’s not nothing...
Yet a frozen treat of the same size – featuring the same cookies – at a popular national ice cream chain (still not naming names) yields nearly double the calories (1050) and about half the protein (19 grams).
And we know for a fact it doesn’t deliver science-backed, recovery-optimizing ingredients like CherryPURE® and myHMB®.
So, while our Cookies n’ Cream recipe might not be what you’d call “diet-friendly,” it is a delicious, muscle-friendly treat for serious natural athletes.
There you have it! Six simple, supercharged recovery recipes that tap into the muscle-optimizing power of Protein Clinic™ while unlocking maximum flavor.
