Research Update: Curcumin C3 Complex® Improves Knee Function

Optimizing joint health is one of the biggest concerns for athletes of all ages. One of the best ways to accomplish this naturally is by taking a curcumin supplement.
And now, two new studies show that Curcumin C3 Complex®, one of the most well-studied therapeutic sports nutrition ingredients on the planet, can help increase joint mobility and decrease inflammation.
The New Studies
The first study, published in the Journal of Frailty & Aging, looked at the effects of 1,000 mg per day of curcumin C3 Complex® on joint health and physical function.
This small – but meaningful – study followed 17 men and women aged 66-94 who received either curcumin C3 Complex® or a placebo for 12 weeks.
At the end of the study, Curcumin C3 Complex® was associated with improvements in knee extension and flexion peak torque compared with the placebo group.1
Researchers at the University of Florida said the findings “warrant a Phase IIB clinical trial to test the effect of Curcumin C3 Complex® on physical function and muscle strength in older adults.”2
The second study, published in the journal Nutrients and led by Australian researchers at Massey University, investigated the impact of supplementing Curcumin C3 Complex® combined with chlorogenic acid in yogurt.3
Though this study was also small – just 19 healthy postmenopausal women participated – researchers found that women who ate Curcumin C3 Complex® saw almost immediate reductions in inflammatory biomarkers.
Putting It All Together
Yes, these studies are small. They are by no means definitive. But they’re encouraging steps in the right direction.
The fact that researchers are calling for more – and bigger – studies on these beneficial effects, particularly in older adults, is good news.
Multiple studies have linked Curcumin C3 Complex to improved joint health and lower inflammation. And if just one of those future studies is able to get mainstream news coverage, it could lead untold numbers of people to significant, lasting relief.
